Once upon an eon, there came a time where the release of Sword Art Online, or SAO, the anime, was a huuuge deal on the internet. And that deal just got even bigger and better until the show ended. Everyone loved it, even those that usually didn’t watch that sort of action packed, fantasy and semi sci-fi genre. And it became and Anime Must- an anime you just HAD to watch that year, you just did.
And now, finally, after so suuuper long, I have started watching SAO. And GOSH, I’ve seen but two episodes, and I love it already ❤ It’s so brilliant! It qualifies as one of MY Anime Must Watches and that’s saying something. The animation, the story line, the characters…it’s all just terrific. You’re definitely missing out if you haven’t at least tried it.
Er, make that three episodes =P I just finished watching one in the middle of this post… La la la ^_^
I just adoooore the animation! And- Ohmahgoooshh- KIRITO!! ❤ Damn you cute little shortiee! When they showed him in the first episode, looking like this
I was soo bummed out, cuz when they showed him turn his NerveGear on, his eyes gave me the false impression that he was going to be chibi cute and short. But then, he didn’t…At least not until he held up that magical Mirror! And, bam!, the glass shattered, and he looked just- Aaaaah!!
^(he reminds me a bit of Kazuma from Kaze no Stigma here, no? Just me? Oh wyell. *flies awaaay*)
^One word. D’AWWWWWW ❤ Dem EYES. This is why I thought he’d look chibi-ish =3 And that floppy hair- Uff. Buss, Kirito, buss. Just W-o-W.
^This one’s from episode three, the one where he joins a guild. -Spoiler Alert!- Ze one where Sachi (haha, I named my first cat Saachi =3 Back when I was in, what?, seventh grade I guess =P) dies, and leaves behind a message…humming Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer christmas carol!! It was a pretty sad episode, cuz everyone in that guild died except Kirito… =( I didn’t like Sachi much though, so I was glad she was out of the picture so soon, but it bothers me that her death will hang over Kirito’s head forever, and he’ll never really forget about her. She doesn’t blame him for her death, and wants him to live on, but she might as well haunt him.
^Snow, Ice, a hot anime dude dressed all in black with one heck of a sword- what more could you ask for?
And this is just some impressive wallpaper I thought to mention anyways, since it looks so different. Very Pirates of the Caribbean. (I don’t know, it just has a very pirate edge to it cus of the clouds, ship like shape in the back, and these old treasure map colors. Just me??)
Aaaand now for some coolio art work that doesn’t just show you how incredible I find Kirito- and some shots for me to fangirl over with Alya…-but also shows us some cool effects used in the show. Like during the sparring matches.
Aaaand even with THIS pic, I’m not doing the show justice. If you like anime, funny, serious, fantasy, realistic, deep, typical girl-likes-boy/girl-crushing-on-guy/guy-stalking-girl/boy-meets-girl/girl-shugumflavah-boy/something-of-the-sort, whatEVER, watch this anime. No, TRY it. You simply must. It did make it to my Must Watch/Must Try Anime list, so please.
No matter how cool, or amazing the art or effects or animation looks, you’ll still be mindblown when you watch the first episode. I might be exhagerating, or raising expectations, but that’s what it’s like for me, and exactly what happened when I saw it. *pshew* (<ze sound of my mind being blown. And fireworks.)
Summaryyy on the Story-
A brand new video game is released int the year 2022 named Sword Art Online. It is the first ever game which has a whole virtual environment to it, a land of its own- The World of Swords. Players put on a helmet, called the NerveGear, which intercepts brain waves and signals and plays them in the virtual world, so the person’s body isn’t moving, but their avatar’s is. That’s why a player once inside the game can’t take off the NerveGear while playing a game, and have no control of their motionless bodies in the true world of reality. Ten thousand of the copies are sold out as soon as the game is launched, and all the excited players sign in, create avatars, and begin their quests. But when trying to log out- they realize they can’t. There’s no log out button. Then, in a huge pandemonium, it is revealed through the creator of the game that this game isn’t just any video game- your life is on the line. You can’t log out until you clear the game, and beat all a hundred bosses on each floor. If anyone from the outside world tries to forcibly remove the helmet, a bit of microwavable radiation, and your brain is fried. Instant death. Your hp reaches zero? Instant death. Basically, there are a lot of ways to die, and not that many ways to win. But that’s where Kirito comes in. A teenaged cutie determined to beat the game- and survive.
There are other details that I’ve left out on purpose, just cuz I want others to discover them on their own when (and if?) they watch the anime. Like the Beta testers, the number of players, la la la, and the- beater? Nah, the beater isn’t a detail that you’d think is something you need to figure out on your own. But I might as well mention it airily anyways. Tralalaaaa
Mhmm, now I gotta go, it’s time for bed. Niiiiight, y’all!
*poof*
