Mall Shopping Spree with Rubab: Vlogging Adventure

Remember how when Rubab first landed in America a few weeks ago in the middle of Ramadan, she invited me out to an outlet mall in the city to go shopping? Well, we decided that wasn’t enough time for us to hang out, so I invited her over to my place so I could drive her out to the mall nearby today.

After a looot of negotiating, we finally set up our plan to meet up at the mall and to hang out there until we were ready to come back to my place. (I was hoping to get some pokemon go catching in there too, but I didn’t manage to 😦 )

Sooo I drove out the van there and we met up. We did loads of shopping in H&M, Charlotte Russe, Charming Charlie, and visited some others like Forever 21, and Books a Million too.

Rubab didn’t do that much shopping, because she thought she wouldn’t wear cool stuff like dresses in Pakistan much -___- boring. She did most of her shopping for gifts for other people. And speaking of gifts for people back home, she had promised she would vlog us hanging out at the mall, so that’s exactly what we did. And I have to say, it was really fun! I got the footage from her once she’d left, and it was really fun to watch us goofing off on camera xD The only problem of listening to yourself recorded is having to hear your own voice, ew. But anyways, I realized I totally had enough confidence to vlog in public and it was a really enjoyable thing to do~ I’m glad I tried it out.

Besides that, the family at home needed the van to go to a BBQ, so I dragged Rubab home and we chilled out here, recording a haul video and also experimenting with some buys such as my eyeshadow palette and Rubab’s hair doughnut. Mid make up tutorial however, Rubab’s ride showed up and we had to say bye. Again. Ugh, good byes stiiiiink. I just really hope I get to fly back soon to visit. I miss my friends ❤

The Great Gatsby- Gatsby’s Green Light

I was thinking about The Great Gatsby…both the book and the movie (although I haven’t read the entire book yet. Still stalled on Chapter VII =P =/ ) when I started to try and literary analyze the green light.

I thought- if I’m going to literary analyze anything, might as well record the thought. Maybe I’ll laugh at it later, for being so off or for thinking something so naive (perhaps that would be possible if the future-me was ever mature. Hah. Now that IS a laugh.). Maybe I’ll nail it on the head. Maybe I’ll just do it for fun. Maybe all three.

At first, I just thought it to represent something like the unattainable, or the desires that are just out of reach. But then, the scene from the movie came in, the MOTION of the green light and this thought just struck me-

It’s like a Lighthouse. It’s necessary. It guides you home, it’s a beacon of hope, it lights the way in darkness, its light is so appealing and beautiful compared to the bleak, pressing darkness, and on top of it all- If you get too close too it, it’ll harm you, rather than help you. You can’t sail your boat too close to it, or your boat will crash and sink.

And all that, all that, is what Daisy is to Gatsby.

We need to go deeper!

I had to, I just did =P I couldn’t possibly resist xD …

ahem. So anyways, I could go deeper to take the light to represent Daisy’s house, not her. But that would also end up involving Tom, and the estate, and it’s location, in comparison to Gatsby’s. Meh, no, that’s TOO deep, and confusing, and not worth getting into. Imma leave it at my initial idea.

I wonder if that made any sense at all… Or if my opinion was totally off ^_^ I wanna ask my seniors who analyzed this book in Literature now, to see where my idea stands to the opinion of Khilji/KillJoy, the Scholar of Literature, and the Great-Grandmother of the Furies.

Literature IS all that. Lyrical Literature keeps you lively and dainty.

#EmphasisthroughAlliteration. Mhmm. It’s a thing. xD

Amature-Bookreader- My Sister and The Fan

My sister amazes even me, which should be pretty difficult by now, since my expectations are the lowest of all (in the family or otherwise). And yet, when she still manages to stoop lower than that, it leaves me speechless, mindnumblingly shocked, and totally mindblown.

This happened to be one of those incidencts.

So my sister just started an adventure that scared even the over-couragous me (becasue if my siter was infact about to set out doing this…then what may become of the world as we know it?). and that adventure was reading. yes, my sister started to READ. even i am shocked.

and yet, that is not todays particular incident of shock, oh no. However, while on the topic of her reading id like to ellaborate a bit.

Still disappointed and depressed over the books she decided to read, im still not sure how i feel about my sister reading terrible books i hate like Vicky Angel by Jacqueline Wilson (a book that manages to be controverisal to almost all world-widely famous religious beliefs about life-after death) instead of something truly epic like my re-reading Harry Potter. i mean, realllyyy? Wilson’s…shtuff over Harry-inspiring-kids-to-look-forward-to-their-eleventh-birthday-for-a-letter-from-hogwarts-Potter?! really?!

ahem. so er…yeah =P to the actual incident of shock now…

The rooms cool, but both the AC and fan are off…so i tell my brother to turn the fan on. Hadia, isntantly starts complaining, saying that itll mess with her book. so i ask her HOW in the world the fans managed to do that. She responds- and here it comes- with how if the fans on, the pages of the book will begin to flip, because theyll get blown away by the fan. Just just- what? So she ellaborates, exasperated, asthough this is something as easily understood as needing food to live. that basically, the fan will blow air towards her book (factually incorrect. the fan does not blow air, it turns, causing already existing air in the room to move.) and thus turns and moves the pages, making it totally IMPOSSIBLE to read. DUH.

um…how about just trying hold the book properlyy?? you know, in such a way that you can actually READ it without worrying about the pages being moved by something normal like having a fan on in the summer…

and then she showed me how she held the book. it was like she was pinching it tentively, like it might try to bite her, or that shes considering how much cooler itd look on the floor…, anyways, basically, if i so much as turned the fan on, the might might have flown out of her hands.

As a porffesional and awesome mega bookreader nerd-mhmm, self bestowed title, course =D- that i am, i couldnt even COVNEY the level of hugeness of the facepalm i wanted to and nearly did attempt having witnessed and HEARD all of this…but out of fear of smushing my head and killing all my brain cells, making it pretty unlikely to get into say Yale or Standford or even THINK, i decided not to. it was a VERY close call at that too.

aaaand she just did another face palm worthy moment just now as i was typing all this out…she asked me if i wrote in the book shes particularly reading right now and not the author cuz the FONT HAD CHANGED when they showed what was written…um, i cant explain it too well, what i mean so ill show you and examples. (cuz like im all about the examples ^_^ )

so then i elegantly scrawled a message across the corner of her page. the message read,
Oi, what do you MEAN by Percy Jacksons not awesome?!
^the above scrawl being in an actual different font…it didnt work here for some reason =Y

SO YEAAAH…it was like that. but it was basically a girl writing a message with frosting on a cake or something. it couldve been ketchup on a hotdog too so…yeah, whatever, she basically thought wrote it…just no…no.

hmm =/

ladies and gentlemen, my sister. wohoo.

keep your facepalms ready.

Ze Out!

Quote of Ze Day-Stars, Fathoming, & Constellations-John Green

AAAAARRRGGGhhh. i STILL havent managed to get my hands on a copy of the Fault in Our Stars, and hence, stilll havent read it! grrr. ive been looking forward to reading this book since FOREVER. gjrnoeudgf. it also doesnt help that my evil laptop just erased my entire post right before i could post it, and the anger erased most of it from my memory. anyways, i havent read the book which im probably sure this beautiful and elequent quote is from. siigh. although, i do think i can post this quote as i have been following the vlogbrothers on youtube, hank and john green’s channel, since, um, 2010 or 2009, not sure when exactly, but i have watched all their stuff from 2007. so im sure i know enough about john green to post this without doing him the justice of reading the entire book. or not. sorry, john green =) but anyhoo, this quote shall be very helpful next semester at school. all my teachers complain my expressionism sucks, and really needs improvement. (i think thats tosh, since i still get great grades and i get my point across. although in literature i do think i could use some work…but in all other subjects, i personally think im fine =/) so this is what i shall say to them then. yeeep. cant wait to see their reaction. especially if they have come across john greens work =)
weelll, im done.
DFTBA!
