Ze “Carnival of Cocoas” & A Rant on Mah Umbrella

So it pooouuured today, and it was wonderful. (Haha, Spring still isn’t here yet!)

Although yesterday was fantabulously wonderous!! It was raining, I had my fab ombre umbrella spinning round and round, while singing, and shimmying my way up and down the terrace. Singing loudly, of course. And, let me impress y’all with my multitasking skills, I was also texting my bro, Kamil.

Anyhoo, my umbrella died today =( After using it yesterday, I left it open in the shade on the terrace, and thought I’d just fold it up in the morning before heading out to school in case it rained today (which it did. A lot.).

Buut because I slept in today, I completely forgot and left it there. Ooh, what did Mother Nature do to my happy and bright umbrella in eight hours? Nothing. It wasn’t Mother Nature that did it. It was simply Mother.

My mom hastily wrapped up my umbrella, possibly while blindfolded, and broke four metal rods that kept the umbrella in shape. I came home to find it completely retarded and the closest thing resembling a star. I tinkered with it for around fifteen minutes and fixed it for the most part, but there’s still one rod that won’t bend the right way. It’s a small abnormality, but it still functions.

But it bothers me the most, that out of all the practical things I get from my trip to Budapest, Hungary, my mom still manages to meddle to the point where she ruins even an umbrella. And it’s not like you can get decent umbrellas here either.

Grr. If everyone’s got a fatal flaw, my mother’s is her Over Efficiency. And I hate it with a passion. A burning passion. Think Heathcliff’s love for Catherine. (#WH)

So anywaaays…It rained a lot, and the sunny days are gone for a while. It’s all cold and drizzle like at the moment.

The perfect time to search up some recipes for warming you from the inside out drinks!

And hence the title. A Carnavil of Cocoas. Sounds so brilliant ❤

But the credit doesn’t go to me, it goes to the owner of this coffee infused and obsessed recipe blog I found on my quest, Sugarbeanbakers.blogspot.com!

Offending Religious People?- Through Greetings

It’s pretty easy to offend religious people. No matter which religion, it can happen, intended or not.

Kay, I know that my stance on religion on the internet is a huge no-no, but this isn’t debating religion, this is just religious acts on the net. Like, today happens to be Christmas. And in a group chat, a bunch of people were wishing each other Merry Christmas, and I’m not sure how, but I learned of a something that apparently offends some people religiously. And I never knew of this today, and boy, does it make keeping peace between those of different religions tough =/

See, some people don’t like, and some get highly offended if you wish them of a religious holiday and you yourself don’t believe or practice or celebrate that particular holiday. An I’m not sure why, but apparently some people just don’t like it. If anyone does know (cuz they feel that way themselves) or has any guesses and theories as to why some people don’t like it, pleaase share it in a comment or something. I’d like to know or at least try to understand why it’s offending. I mean, if someone’s making fun of your religion or ideologies or just calling it darn right ‘wrong’ (haha, right wrong…) then it’s pretty obvious why you’d be offended. But, I don’t really get why, for example, a Christian would get mad at me for wishing them a Merry Christmas even though I’m not a Christian myself, and I don’t celebrate it either. I’m telling you to enjoy your holiday, whatever it may be. Just cuz I don’t believe in it, or celebrate it, or share your religion doesn’t make it wrong to try and tell or convey to you that I still want you to enjoy whichever holiday it is. Maybe they think that I’m mocking them? I’m not sure why, but that’s what I learnt today about wishing Merry Christmas when not a Christian. It can be dangerous =|

Anyhoo, lesson learnt? Be muuuch more cautious of wishing holiday greetings and wishes now. Apparently it’s become easier to offend people now. Just what the world needed. More confusions to cause misunderstandings =3=

Mm, I think my internet’s working now! Oh boy, it’s anime time now =D

Ciao for now!

ps.
People should just be chill with saying Happy Holidays =Y Although whenever I do, people just stare at me with a stare that clearly says ‘Why don’t you just be more specific and say a certain holidays name?’, usually puzzled at why I bothered saying something vague and different like Happy Holidays. Bleh, people make up yo minds.

Howdy to a lil’ Holiday DIY SnowGlobe

‘Tis the season of giving, sharing, and- why not?- MAKING!

Snow-glooobes

Wait- it’s the Winter Solstice and it ain’t snowing? And of course, it’s not the same if there are no snowflakes! But do not fret, we can change that up a bit with this simple yet gorgeous DIY I found day before yesterday, but haven’t had the time nor materials to try yet. But here goes anyways.

View the original blog I found this DIY at too, it’s pretty cool =D Plus, you can order a special kit to get all the materials to make this DIY if you want from their site too! Disclaimer- all these photos are from the original blog, Brit+Co, unless otherwise stated.

So, get down with Frosty, and create your own magical winter wonderland, complete with snow in the form of a girl’s best friend, glitter!

Snow-GLobe

I mean, just loook at that spectacular show of shimmer! #EmphasisThroughAlliteration

So let’s get started, now shall we?

Materials-
I Airtight Jar(s)
II Glitter
III A form of SuperGlue (Elfee, or UHU, or E-6000 glue.)
IV Stuff to stick on your jar- like a Christmas Bauble, or other decoration item, like a small tree, or a small figurine, etc.

Step I- Unscrew your jar lid, and glue whatever you will be putting in the snow globe onto it.

Press down firmly to make sure it’ll dry securely. Now let it dry properly. To be on the safe side, I’d recommend you to leave it to dry overnight, or to be on the super-safe side, dry for 24 hours. If you’re super giddy to finish the project, then I guess you could shorten the wait to 4 hours, but I’m not sure how well that’d turn out.

Step II- Fill your jar with as much water as possible. Now comes the fun part- adding the glitter! As much as you like, with as many colors as you’d like. Although, you do end up with a snow globe that might have glitter clump in it every now and then. I’ve heard of this tip that’s supposed to fix that up, which is to use hot/warm water in the jar, then use glitter glue instead of glitter as it dissolves in the water more uniformly, yet I haven’t tried this out myself, so I can’t verify whether it works or not. I’ll try this out, then get back to y’all if it does or doesn’t.

w640 (3)

Step III- Shake and enjoy! Have fun making these, and I hope you liked it =D I mean, this is a cute little DIY you could do with kids as a fun little project to lift the holiday spirit, or for those who are homesick without snow this season could be cheered up a bit (I know it worked on me!), and these little guys would make awesome gifts too!

w640 (4)

Just have fun with it, and you can use loads of different stuff instead of tiny Christmas trees. I was thinking of making an Alice in Wonderland themed one myself, honestly. With a lollipop, a peppermint candy cane, and other candies, and a figurine of the Cheshire Cat. I was  thinking of making a Christmasy/Winter Solstice one with Christmas baubles, and plastic snowflake ornaments too. I can’t wait to try this out myself! And soon, I hope!

Ze Winter Solstice ’13

Happy Winter Solstice y’all!

I love the Winter Solstice. I’m not Christian, but it’s basically my non-religious Christmas =D

It’s the day with the snowflakes, the day where I’ve gotta have hot chocolate and/or coffee in my specially awesome intended-to-be-Christmas-themed-coffee-thermos-that-is-now-Winter-Solstice-themed, and I hope today of all days I get to wear my Snowflake Sequined Sweater for the first time ever ^_^

But the classical agenda for the day is to read a good book, enjoy that hot drink, and stare out the window at the snowfall/imagine that snowfall if it ain’t snowing. Well, that’s if I haven’t got a party planned. And cuz of yesterday’s festivities, I don’t. But still. It’s amazing ❤

I’ll post a little Winter Solstice DIY later too =3

A little bit of info on it- It’s the 21st of December and its the shortest day of the Gregorian Calender. I don’t know that much about it, honestly. I’ve read about it cuz of Greek Mythology, but I’d love to know more about it’s origins, and how it might’ve been celebrated back in the day, if at all. I’m gonna do some research on it today now too =)

Zat’s all for now =)

Dr. Suess on Memories and Moments

Dr. Suess on Memories and Moments

surprisingly enough i found this picture on 9gag ^_^ and i DO love me a dr. suess quote, cuz almost anyyy one of his are brilliant and inspiring and funny and true =) well, most of the time =P

On Themes and Christmas Nicknames:

recently, ive been going on a themes rampage. =P haha, yeah, ive been changing the theme of this blog from my fav artsy one to that chocolate brown one to this pink christmasy celebration one. all in the grand span of one week, barely =P

thing is, i wanted to deviate from my usual thing, and i thought id use a more wintry them. and that choco one reminded me of a coffee place’s menu so i chose that. doesnt get more apt (with this blogs name and all..) and the whole having a hot cup of coffee in this crisp cold wintry windy weather. so yeah.

i was actually fed up with that dull one and thought id go back to the usual colorful and bright one but then i found this one. Christmasyyyy! yaay =) theres even an ELF! haha, though im gonna call it a leprechaun to show off and underline my non-existing Irish lineage =D

i shall now be using my nickname Frosty more that the Wattson thang =P hee hee

actually, i inspired christmas nicknames with all my friends. (one day i kinda just went ‘hey christmas characters are so cool, i wish i had a christmas nickname =(‘ or ‘wouldnt it be fun to have christmasy nicknames?’ or something along those lines, and tadaaa~ it hapened =P ) i got dubbed Frosty, my friend amna got rudolf (yeah, an f. since she seriously thought it was spelled that way, *laugh*), and ayesha, dainty little fancy formal ayesha, got the polar bear from the soft mints ice commercial =) yep, a desi christmas character ^_^ since that polar bear lacks a name, we knight her for what she’s famous for. ‘Sharingaaa!’ xD

Once a pal of mine, suleman, got a terrible flu but his mom still sent him to school. so his nose was all red and my entire group started calling him rudolph. now, the original rudolf, amna, was peeved at this cuz she thinks he is no where awesome enough to deserve her nickname (..and that he’s too ugly to have the same nickname as her =D that was mean of her, but still she and he arent even friends. barely on speaking terms since they dont really know each other). we still joked that amna got her title as head honch of the reindeer taken away and stolen by the Flighty Flu Wonder (aka suleman, since reindeer can fly.)

singing christmas carols all year round, wohoo!
