Ze “Carnival of Cocoas” & A Rant on Mah Umbrella

So it pooouuured today, and it was wonderful. (Haha, Spring still isn’t here yet!)

Although yesterday was fantabulously wonderous!! It was raining, I had my fab ombre umbrella spinning round and round, while singing, and shimmying my way up and down the terrace. Singing loudly, of course. And, let me impress y’all with my multitasking skills, I was also texting my bro, Kamil.

Anyhoo, my umbrella died today =( After using it yesterday, I left it open in the shade on the terrace, and thought I’d just fold it up in the morning before heading out to school in case it rained today (which it did. A lot.).

Buut because I slept in today, I completely forgot and left it there. Ooh, what did Mother Nature do to my happy and bright umbrella in eight hours? Nothing. It wasn’t Mother Nature that did it. It was simply Mother.

My mom hastily wrapped up my umbrella, possibly while blindfolded, and broke four metal rods that kept the umbrella in shape. I came home to find it completely retarded and the closest thing resembling a star. I tinkered with it for around fifteen minutes and fixed it for the most part, but there’s still one rod that won’t bend the right way. It’s a small abnormality, but it still functions.

But it bothers me the most, that out of all the practical things I get from my trip to Budapest, Hungary, my mom still manages to meddle to the point where she ruins even an umbrella. And it’s not like you can get decent umbrellas here either.

Grr. If everyone’s got a fatal flaw, my mother’s is her Over Efficiency. And I hate it with a passion. A burning passion. Think Heathcliff’s love for Catherine. (#WH)

So anywaaays…It rained a lot, and the sunny days are gone for a while. It’s all cold and drizzle like at the moment.

The perfect time to search up some recipes for warming you from the inside out drinks!

And hence the title. A Carnavil of Cocoas. Sounds so brilliant ❤

But the credit doesn’t go to me, it goes to the owner of this coffee infused and obsessed recipe blog I found on my quest, Sugarbeanbakers.blogspot.com!

The Great Gatsby- Gatsby’s Green Light

I was thinking about The Great Gatsby…both the book and the movie (although I haven’t read the entire book yet. Still stalled on Chapter VII =P =/ ) when I started to try and literary analyze the green light.

I thought- if I’m going to literary analyze anything, might as well record the thought. Maybe I’ll laugh at it later, for being so off or for thinking something so naive (perhaps that would be possible if the future-me was ever mature. Hah. Now that IS a laugh.). Maybe I’ll nail it on the head. Maybe I’ll just do it for fun. Maybe all three.

At first, I just thought it to represent something like the unattainable, or the desires that are just out of reach. But then, the scene from the movie came in, the MOTION of the green light and this thought just struck me-

It’s like a Lighthouse. It’s necessary. It guides you home, it’s a beacon of hope, it lights the way in darkness, its light is so appealing and beautiful compared to the bleak, pressing darkness, and on top of it all- If you get too close too it, it’ll harm you, rather than help you. You can’t sail your boat too close to it, or your boat will crash and sink.

And all that, all that, is what Daisy is to Gatsby.

We need to go deeper!

I had to, I just did =P I couldn’t possibly resist xD …

ahem. So anyways, I could go deeper to take the light to represent Daisy’s house, not her. But that would also end up involving Tom, and the estate, and it’s location, in comparison to Gatsby’s. Meh, no, that’s TOO deep, and confusing, and not worth getting into. Imma leave it at my initial idea.

I wonder if that made any sense at all… Or if my opinion was totally off ^_^ I wanna ask my seniors who analyzed this book in Literature now, to see where my idea stands to the opinion of Khilji/KillJoy, the Scholar of Literature, and the Great-Grandmother of the Furies.

Literature IS all that. Lyrical Literature keeps you lively and dainty.

#EmphasisthroughAlliteration. Mhmm. It’s a thing. xD

A Warm Welcome With Wretched Midterms

[If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from O-level Literature it’s- as the only note of worth in Chapter XXIV/24 of Whuthering Heights- Emphasis through Alliteration.]

Buda. Pesht. *siiiiigh*

Well, time for reality to set in. Pshhh….

Aaaand I’m greeted with the best greeting ever possible! Right back from Europe and still dreaming of that wondrous magical fantasy only to have to come back. And in case coming back wasn’t bad enough it was what I was coming back to that made the idea so repulsive. The day after I got back I had my first midterm (Chemistry Practical apparently it was Computer I. Oopsies.) Uuuuugh.

So yeah. Midterms. Way to knock you back to the fact that I’m still just an AS student, stuck in school, NOT traveling Europe as I had been just a few days ago…

But before I go on about the beaauuuuty of Buda ❤ I must complain and just say and tell some things so that I just don’t forget (these legit excuses for why I failed my midterms, why it’s worth it and shiz like dat. Cuz I inevitably will be failing them =/ (fyi, for me, a fail is just less than 80%, except Physics. Well, sometimes. Physics is haard =Y ))

9th- So. Computer I? KA-BOOM bad. Didn’t study a bit for that one. It was the one that was right after I got back.

10th- Chemistry Practical was alright- you don’t necessarily need to prepare for it.

FourdayBreak- Got siiick. Had a terrrible cold, then just headaches. Still got one. And I slept through one day (16 hours + at night…). And- it wasn’t pretty =/

16th- Computer II. Yeaaaah. About me having studied in the four day break I had…I didn’t. Well, not as much as I’d have liked to. I did study computers though. It was the sciences I didn’t start, which bothered me for a quite a bit. Then I gave up.

18th- Physics Rescheduled Practical (Originally on the 3rd, I missed it since I wasn’t here. So I had to give it now, with Haider and Ateeq.) Pretty good, I think. The problem with Physics practicals is that you have no idea how you’ve done til you get it back. Like Literature. A bit. It’s not as tough. I think.

19th- Chemistry MCQs and AS Structured Questions. Ooooh Goooosh D= It went down prettyyyy badly…See, MCQS- I had solved like fifteen properly, then for the first half, I was randomly-ish/gutfeeling it and filling in the options that were ‘most likely’/the options I hadn’t chosen in a while. (Hmm, haven’t picked D in a while….) But even with that, I didn’t manage to finish the paper. Five MCQs were left undone (5 marks, poof!) The question paper? It wasn’t good. But it wasn’t necessarily bad either. I solved what I could, aced the bonus question, but there were a few/bunch of questions I just couldn’t solve answer at all. So I tookaed some and just left those that I couldn’t answer blank. Huzzah. =( #YOLOedIt

20th- Oi, that’s tomorrow! And that’s my LAST goddamn exaaaam!! Physics. MCQs and AS Structured Questions. Blehhy. I have to study/cram for that today now. At least I’ve got some awesome plans for tomorrow after the exam…

I To the Mall to FINALLY watch Catching Fire! *I refused to watch it there. Too expensive, and I like our theatres better anyways. Muuch cooler and swagtastic. Mujhe biglee jaanee kee aadat hogai hai =P Shout and yell when that happens in our movie screening xD*
II Chill at Mall then head on over to
III Ayesha’s place til it’s time for the….
IV Concert! Our school’s music society is finally having a concert, at Gloria, and it’s free entree for us HS students ^_^ (HA, finally, some perks to the whole still having to study thing…). Apparently the school’s rented out the entire second floor. Although I don’t think that’s going to be enough space at all….O-levelers and 8th graders might come too?! Dx

And now Imma amscray and just watch some Covert Affairs. =P

Peace!
