DRIVING LICENSE ACHIEVED

Achievement unlocked: Driving License acquired.

So the past year and a few months have been rough with me getting a license.

First, I had to wait a few months to get a permit since I was already 17, but I didn’t want to enroll in a drivers ed class. Once I passed and got my permit the first time, I was prepared to learn how to drive from either Barey Ammi or Barey Abu as soooon as possible, but Abu dropped the bomb on me of how I wasn’t allowed to drive their calls for fear I should damage them and he having to pay for repairs -.-” I got to drive them anyways a few times for practise just like that, but never enough to learn how to drive. Ramadan came and went and there was no progress made. Asma got her permit then and learned to drive before me. It was verrryyyyy infuriating.

A year later, Ammi and Abu and the entire family moved here. Abu had the audacity to ask why I hadn’t learned to drive yet and apparently FORGOT he had banned me from learning to drive in the only cars available for me to drive in. GEEZ.

Anyhoo, I started practising every now and then until we got our own van, but Abu wanted me to drive a smaller car for the test and we needed to get a second car anyways, so I started practising on the tinier one once we got it. The bulk of my driving practise was at night during the end of the fall semester and the beginning of the spring one, yet I still haven’t driven in snow yet. Ammi wouldn’t let me.

Finally, the summer vacation started and my morning practise drives were implemented. I was totally ready to drive in real traffic now after my sporadic drives earlier in the spring.

Then the tedious and absolutely infuriating drives down to the stupidest dmv in the world began. I was turned away the first time because I hadn’t taken some stupid drivers ed for adult class that was implemented like two years ago ugh. Had to enroll in that, ugh, it was sooo stupid. But ey, Dale and Hank the master hillbillies of driving signs did make the experience more bearable.

Once that was done with, I waited for the certificate of completion, my proof of passing the class to arrive through email which took a few days (but that was my own fault since I apparently didn’t call them and confirm my email address). Done and done, I showed up at the dmv on Saturday to take the road test.

AND THIS STUPID BIMBO DIDN’T LET ME EVEN GET IN LINE. She turned me away saying “sorry, we’re really full today so even though we’re open, we aren’t taking any road tests today. Come back Tuesday.”(Cuz they’re closed on Mondays too.)

Tuesday comes, and two hours of waiting later, my test happens. And I got failed. EVEN THOUGH I DID NOTHING WRONG. I had stopped at a red light, in the turn right only lane, and checked that there was no oncoming traffic, THEN TURNED. There was no “No turn on red”sign either. But this bandi goes all up you aren’t everrrr allowed to turn on a red blah blah. Screw her.

SO TODAY, Wednesday, I show up and BAM PASS IT FINALLYYYY.

The picture isn’t the greatest, but as you know, I believe in all super important ID pictures turning out terrible always. Regardless of what you do, or how you prepare for it. The only exceptions to this has been my most recent passport picture. The picture would’ve been a-okay awesome if there wasn’t a flash, but there was and once again, I have the shine of brilliance upon my forehead xD It’s definitely not as bad as my last government issued ID so it’s all good. Thankfully, I can put that away now :3

I should drive out and get ice cream now muahahahaha. Jk too broke.

My Adventure on Foreign Soil!

I’m making it sound more epic than it actually is. Hey, embassies are considered the soil of the country they belong to, so I’m technically correct. Geez, it needs a touch of dramatic flare, is all.

It was QUICK. They newly introduced an actual appointment system, with ticket numbers like at a fast food place, and it’s so much more efficient and less messy than before. Five years ago, it was on a first come first served basis, and it sucked. I’d have to miss school and stay at the embassy for around six hours just for a ten minute interview, and a few signatures.

We were out of there in an HOUR. And it only took us that long too because the cashier wasn’t in at the time, so we had to wait a bit. Plus, other people were still showing up. I love hour our stereotypical Desi un-punctuality is even influencing an embassy of a foreign nation ❤ It brings a tear to my “dual” national eye :’)

While the first dude was checking out our application for my passport renewal, he was fiddling with the date stamp, and after a while finally stamped 28 July 2014 onto the form. It’s June, bro. My dad politely asked why he’d stamped July, and then realizing his error, fixed it. He also forgot which ink to sign at the bottom of the form in, so it was fixed up professionally with half a black signature that had been finished and rewritten in red ink. Poor guy must’ve been reaaally sleepy, really off his game, or just plain ol’ clumsy. Who knows.

The second dude that conducted my interview (they didn’t have me take a proper oath, but I still had to promise that I hadn’t lied on the forms, with my right hand raised. I hope that’s the closest I ever get to a proper oath too 😛 ) was a gora guy, and he was pretty great at what he was doing with the questions, and answering those my dad asked too.

There was also a stop between these two guys, which was stopping and paying the cashier the fees for the new passport.

We were waiting for the cashier to open shop, and this other family, that came AFTER we did, just stood huddled in front of the station, like they belonged there! I was pretty miffed at their hurry, and their rudeness, especially since they were counting out which ticket holder had to go up to which window. It was hence pretty satisfying when they were asked to move, and our ticket number was called. That aunty’s smug, haughty look was wiped clean of her face then as she shuffled back to take a seat and wait her turn like everyone else. Hah. Justice. #TheTripleA

That’s about it for that. I didn’t get much sleep last night though…even though I went to bed at around 1 am, I didn’t fall asleep until four. And so I’m running on two hours of sleep, and basically sugar and sunlight~

It was fun. We went to Second Cup afterwards, grabbed a bit of coffee, and some other tidbits (double chocolate muffin, a slice of apple pie, a chicken wrap). Ammi of course wasn’t very fond of her coffee. She’d ordered a medium/regular size too! I got a Cuzco, which is this nutty(aw yeah) chocolate-ish (barely) Latin American blend of coffee, apparently. Adding foam milk just made it all the more better ❤ (Ammi used up half the brown sugars we’d been served, so I only got to use two packets 😦 )

Aaaand now I’m home, typing this out, while I load up a Rizzoli & Isles episode ^_^

Hee hee, well, I’m off now 😛

I’ll type out more about Ayesha’s birthday later today, I hope~

YOLOing it- Last MidTerm

So today was my last exaaaam! Yaaay! Huzzaaaah! All that. I’m tired, kay?

This is after celebrating liberation from the treacherous clutches of a dastardly villainous dictator- Advanced Physics.

I was supposed to type and post this tiny thing after the exam- the tiny interval in which I was supposed to chill for maybe forty minutes before throwing myself into a crazed party mode (ironically enough, I didn’t even go to the ‘party’/Concert, but that’s a story for another post =P).

Soo, how was mah last midterm, hmm?

Utter shiz went down, that’s for sure.

Like, the first paper, MCQs, was pretty goodish-ok, but there were a buuunch of tukkay there…so I just hope my Devine Tukkah hasn’t abandoned me as of yet…Come on, it’s been but a year, it should still work…

But, the second paper? Dear Lordy, help mah, plis! SO TERIBLE. I mean, the stuff I had studied properly, I’m sure I did alright, but there were a bunch of stuff I hadn’t revised properly and hence muddled up, and there was an ENTIRE 1o mark question I had to leave BLANK cuz I hadn’t done the chapter it was from! (It was a chapter I had missed, and it was confusing since I hadn’t done it before.)

So, yeah, I YOLOed it. And I did to the extent that I hastily wrote #YOLO on my paper too. Aziz would’ve been proud xD But yeah, so that’s the story of how I YOLOed Physics. Can I get a Woot Woot? =3

Although my I wrote it REALLY hastily, so it came out pretty light =/ I’m gonna have to trace it in darker once I get that paper back. Ahem, after my parents see it, course. Shiz. They might see it.

Oh well. YOLO.

^The answer to every problem. HA HA HA, no.

Kids, Be Smart, Be Safe, Be Awesome, but don’t be a 21st Century YOLO-Loser. Just Don’t. It will only result in disownment.

I should be a motivational speaker, I know.

ps.
On a completely Unrelated and Unretarded note, a year ago today my friends and I through a surprise farewell party for an amazing person, a friend called Zain (Miss Incredibly Long Name) at Gloria (…ironically where the concert that I didn’t go to was at..ahem) cuz she was moving to Canada, and had a huuuge, fun celebration. Miss her. Hope she’s well. I think I’ll arrange a Skype meeting with her at the least =P
