Offending Religious People?- Through Greetings

It’s pretty easy to offend religious people. No matter which religion, it can happen, intended or not.

Kay, I know that my stance on religion on the internet is a huge no-no, but this isn’t debating religion, this is just religious acts on the net. Like, today happens to be Christmas. And in a group chat, a bunch of people were wishing each other Merry Christmas, and I’m not sure how, but I learned of a something that apparently offends some people religiously. And I never knew of this today, and boy, does it make keeping peace between those of different religions tough =/

See, some people don’t like, and some get highly offended if you wish them of a religious holiday and you yourself don’t believe or practice or celebrate that particular holiday. An I’m not sure why, but apparently some people just don’t like it. If anyone does know (cuz they feel that way themselves) or has any guesses and theories as to why some people don’t like it, pleaase share it in a comment or something. I’d like to know or at least try to understand why it’s offending. I mean, if someone’s making fun of your religion or ideologies or just calling it darn right ‘wrong’ (haha, right wrong…) then it’s pretty obvious why you’d be offended. But, I don’t really get why, for example, a Christian would get mad at me for wishing them a Merry Christmas even though I’m not a Christian myself, and I don’t celebrate it either. I’m telling you to enjoy your holiday, whatever it may be. Just cuz I don’t believe in it, or celebrate it, or share your religion doesn’t make it wrong to try and tell or convey to you that I still want you to enjoy whichever holiday it is. Maybe they think that I’m mocking them? I’m not sure why, but that’s what I learnt today about wishing Merry Christmas when not a Christian. It can be dangerous =|

Anyhoo, lesson learnt? Be muuuch more cautious of wishing holiday greetings and wishes now. Apparently it’s become easier to offend people now. Just what the world needed. More confusions to cause misunderstandings =3=

Mm, I think my internet’s working now! Oh boy, it’s anime time now =D

Ciao for now!

Crazy, Chocolate, and Cookies,

ps.
People should just be chill with saying Happy Holidays =Y Although whenever I do, people just stare at me with a stare that clearly says ‘Why don’t you just be more specific and say a certain holidays name?’, usually puzzled at why I bothered saying something vague and different like Happy Holidays. Bleh, people make up yo minds.
