MovieReview- Avalon High (2010)

Alas, yet another Disney film! And I haven’t even gotten started on Frozen yet…

So, I saw Avalon High just now. Like just JUST now. It took forever to load online. I couldn’t find the dvd anywhere, but now I wanna get a copy of it, since I liked it that much.

I honestly found out about this movie cuz of Castle, the tv show. Since Alexis, or the actress Molly Quin(n?) is in it, and in this one, and I wikipedia-ed her to see what else she was in…I came across this movie.

I’s surprised I hadn’t already come across this movie about a month before it’s release though. It’s got the Arthurian legends mixed up in it, Disney, and high school. How could I NOT have seen this movie?! It’s so something I would watch!

If only there were more cute/cuter guys in it too =/ Then it’d be complete. But still, it’s cute. I like it. I’m not sure if it qualifies for a TimelessMovie, but it’s still something you should watch if you’re into the whole Arthurian legends. And Merlin. If you like and watch Merlin, this might be a kiddie version of that. What did you expect, it’s Disney.

Spoiler time!

I sooo knew it that Ali/apparently spelled “Allie” (it seems SO weird writing that down and actually talking about someone else…) would be King Arthur, I knew it, I knew it! And the second that teacher with the limp asked wistfully to see the real prophecy in the Bear of the Round Table or whatever the real thing was called, it was right there in the open. Hey, plot twist, he’s the bad guy! Only, it’s not so much of a plot twist since it was just so OBVIOUS. Bleh. The only thing about this movie that didn’t make much sense was the evil-but-really-not-so-evil step brother of Will’s. I mean, he was mean, and bullied, and pranked and hated Will. That’s why they thought he was the actual reincarnation of the Royal Evil Step-brother. But in the midst of them battling the reaaaal actual bad guy, he just gets away with his lame assed “Oh, I was trying to protect Will” excuse. Sure, he was in that particular scene, but what about everywhere else? The just transformed him into a sudden impromptu good guy. It would have just made more sense to label him as the cliched misunderstood teenager, but nooo, they just had to make him a good guy who just happened to have a change of heart. And that change of heart too? It just get’s ignored and skipped over with all the other action packed halabaloo so as to make even LESS sense than before! Psshaw, they really had no idea some literature nerd was going to go into the inner being of this movie now did they? If only they had thought that…

Spoilers and rant now over-

It’s pretty evident what this movie is about, and the plot line just so predictable, especially if you really are acquainted with the Arthurian legends even a wee bit, then you will have no trouble figuring it all out. So just watch and see, is Arthur really the one you think he may be?

*ending all recent posts with questions cuz I’m coolio like that. And I’m running out of sign offs.*
