Watch Delemna- Preferences with Metals

Ever since my dearest dear Sparkly Bracelet Swatch, I’ve never had a fixed daily worn watch (semi including Ammi’s red metal Swatch hand me down that lasted me two years).

It was this gorgeous silver and sparkly watch that looked like a bracelet. It had those clear beads that were practically prisms with how many teeny tiny rainbows they broke all the light that passed through them into.

LOL. It’s name’s apparently First Romance

I loved it! And wore it for a good three or four years before the bracletty strap finally broke and the beads went flying everywhere. (Still had it repaired and wore it for another three to four months before the OTHER side broke D: ) Anyhoo, it was retired and it took me forever to finally pick out another swatch to replace it with.

It had to be neutral. It had to be silver ish. It had to be- fancy fabulous.

Now that I look back on it- I NEVER picked out a swatch- no, wait, I did.

Silver. Pinkish. A bit of detailing, but not nearly as ostentatious as the first one. But neutral for me. Too tiny for my taste now, but I apparently liked the thought of a dainty watch back then.

I can’t find an actual picture of it, but it looked a BIT like this. Less pink.

It had the same inner dial thingie!

I was even considering this one, but it was too similar to my old one.

Menthol Mintie

Anyhoo, that’s it for my old swatch indecisiveness. Here’s my take on metal preferences now~

Sooo the deal with me and which colored metals I wore.

It’s basically silver versus gold, even thought there are so many other metallic colors now.

Back then, it was always silver. Silver rings, watch, earrings, all that. It had to be silver if it was concerning jewelry. I viewed gold as an “aunty” color for the longest of times. I couldn’t wear golden watches one BIT. Nor was I particularly fond of any other jewelry being gold either.

But now, years later, as I’m older, and matured just a tad, gold is the fabulous metal, and I love it. Yo, mah bling is gold man. #BlingBling

Although my sudden acceptance of gold is great and all, my current preference, especially concerning watches, would be rose gold. That pinkish golden color.

It’s gorgeous! And now I want, and am sorta already picking out a rose gold watch 🙂

There’s this one from Claire’s that Ayesha got at Budapest after I pushed her to.

Such bling and bedazzledness.

She wasn’t so sure about it, and I was originally going to buy it, but the curse with me and Claire’s on that trip was that every time I visited that store, I had already dropped most of that day’s money shopping! So I didn’t have enough to buy it then -____-

So I pushed Ayesha to get it, and she did. Now I’m considering getting it too.

But there’s this one I like a bit better at the moment, thought originally I was equally indecisive as which to get.

Still bling, pink, and GREY.

I like the random grey stripe through the strap, and the dial’s design intrigues me more than the other classical dudesy dial thing. Especially since none of those three tiny dial things even WORK >.> I don’t like the idea  of those fake ones being on it if they haven’t any functionality.

Plus, with the grey, if I do decide to wear  silver with this it’ll go better than having all silver jewelry and a completely rose gold chunky watch on.

I’m not sure yet. And who knows if I’m even getting these? I’d have to get them shipped from the UK, and I’m not sure if I’m up to pay the additional delivery charges =P

Meeeeh, so that’s it for now. Gotta pooof~!

MovieReview- Rise of the Guardians (2012)

So…I saw this random post on 9gag about how Jack Frost from the Rise of the Guardian’s was a lot like Elsa from Frozen, and I REALLLY wanted to watch the  movie then.

I had wanted to watch this movie since it was first up in the theater, but I remember that my parents were fed up with the cinema being so far away from our house that they weren’t willing for me to go with my friends, and were too tired/lazy to take me themselves. And I kind of forgot about it til I saw that post. And decided to watch it after all.

'

It was an adorable little film all about hope, belief, fun, and fear. It was brilliant. I absolutely ADORED Jack Frost himself, so much that I am willing to assign him a date.

Oh? What do I mean by that? Every Guardian (but the Tooth Fairy, but she’s a hummingbird, so meh.) (..and the sandman…)(OK, so HALF the Guardians) have dates or holidays assigned to them. Easter. Christmas. SOMETHING of the sort.

And even if the other two don’t have set times or seasons, who cares? Sandy’s time was night time when the kids slept and dreamed. Tooth Fairy’s thing was teeth gathering so…whatever to that.

[Although I TRULY appreciated that the teeth had some sort of deeper meaning to them. Memories! That was utterly brilliant. I found it perfectly fitting for the teeth to hold memories from our childhood- and the best and most important ones at that. This was something I really could sink my  teeth into- Oh wow. That really was an unintended pun. If it weren’t, I would have really taken credit for it.]

And so, Jack Frost, the dude with the fun and snow, I’m giving you a date. Your season is obviously winter. So now, your date should be even more obvious. It’s pretty important. It’s the Winter Solstice. The 21st of December. The shortest day, but the longest night to think up pranks, tricks, and create a blizzard. (I’m not a hundred percent sure that’s factually correct about the time though..) Perfect.

I like having my own personal Guardian to my own little holiday =3 It’s name is the only thing I don’t own. And the Guardian too, course. But then again…Frosty is pretty great too..If only I were believed in >.> <.<

Aaah, it’s late, and I have a Rehearsal on the morrow…Er, but I haven’t even typed out the actual review of the movie…um, I’ll try finishing this up quickly.

But there really are a bunch of similarities between Elsa and Jack that it’s startling. Or, predictable.

Just like this movie- Ooooh. But then again, it’s a kids movie, so a happy and perfect ending is suspected and expected from the very beginning. But it’s still worth watching.

I like it’s animation better than Frozen’s though. But I found Frozen’s utterly adorable! And Frost is a much deeper character. I’m not just saying that cuz his hair reminds me of Killua’s or that he’s cute. Or that he’s mischievous. Seriously, Elsa was pretty shallow- there wasn’t any character growth *semicolon* she was just stagnant as a character.

''

And his FEARS! Now that’s what I call realistic. As a literature student, I adored how universal and understandable it was. Or at least, made to be relateble and believable.

I just wished the Man on the Moon wasn’t given such a godly state as heavenly moonlight and would’ve been SHOWN to us. I really would. Plus, they never did resolve how Jack’s memories were literally stolen from him. He didn’t recall his past, so he couldn’t find his “centre”. (Pish posh, what’s this? I spell with a single British spelling, and spell check is on my case…huh. I guess being half American and yet being in British schooling would be confusing sometimes…) Nor did they resolve or show how he handled the silence from the Man on the Moon after so long, and about such important matters. I mean, the poor guy was having an identity crisis for over 300 years. That’s no light matter.

La la la, but really. I loved this movie. Maybe not overall as much as Frozen, but I do like Jack Frost much more than Elsa. But she is easily the better architect, sorry about that, Frost. Just being honest.

But, fear not, you are the 21st of December. So cheers to that!

Oh, and of course, I just HAVE to compare this part of the animation- which had better ice, frost, snow, snowflakes? It’s pretty tough- I’ve decided that both movies win a few awards there. Frozen gets best overall ice and specifically snowflakes. But Rise of the Guardian’s gets frost, easy. But then again- cuz of Frost’s name, there wasn’t all that much focus on ice either, nor individual snowflakes, so it’s not like you’re exposed to terrible ice animation throughout the film.

I say watch it. Definitely. Compare to Frozen, too. I’m sure y’all will. I’d love to hear comparisons and other responses to the movie too.

Did you find the Russian Santa cooler than any other like me? Wish you had seen a six foot one bunny too? Or maybe wished you had Sandy on your charades team? Found Tooth a bit creepy with her feathers and half-hummingbird-ness? Found Frost cute, but strange that he didn’t wear shoes for no apparent reason?

…I actually forgot the hashtag I had for my literature ness D=
*cue identity crisis*

Diamonds and Piercings

I know I haven’t posted in quite the while, but with Rehearsals for the school play, and hosting the U17, I haven’t got the time!

The time to type and post all sorts of stories, course. Not like there could ever be a lack of stories or things to talk about in my life =P

Anyhoo, this gem (pun intended) occurred on break during Rehearsal today.

Remember how I was fascinated with these “ear cuffs” I found at Claire’s at Buda? Weeell, I got one that was silver swirls and had these whitish gems on it. It’s this sort of little decorative metal that you can just fit around your ear so it looks like you’ve got a piercing at the top portion of your ear. Er, that sounds really confusing….Lemme see if I can google a picture.

A picture does speak more than a thousand words after all.

Ah, here we go!

^This is like how I wear mine.

il_fullxfull.328577670 (1)^And this one is just so pretty, I just felt like including it =3

So, anyways, I was wearing it, and had my hair tied up in a high ponytail, so it was clearly noticeable. And Faiza happened to notice.

I was standing next to Kamil at the time, when she complimented it. Then she asked if it was ‘real’. Since I’m a such a goodie goodie when it comes to how I behave in certain ways, like not drinking, or dating, or drugs, (The Three Devilish Ds?) it reaaaally doesn’t make sense that I’ve got a random piercing like that. And I didn’t. I was just wearing some fake jewelry that made it look like I had. Maybe Alya and MehrNaz are starting to rub off on me, Kamil thought…

SO anyhoo, I said “No, course not.” And that’s when Kamil chimes in, and full of nothing but pure intelligence. He said, “Yeah, Faiza, why would she wear diamonds to school?” Faiza and I just sort of glanced at each other then started laughing. That’s when we had to explain to him that when she asked if it was real, the it she was referring to was the piercing, not the gems on the ear cuff…

So yeah, diamonds? I wear them to my Rehearsals on casual Saturday mornings. Why not?

ps.
Master Simon, my Alison’s true love, also complimented it. Quite eloquently too. “I like your…*waves hand around his ear*..thingie. Looks cool.”

A Trio of DIYs- Woven Headband, Braided Headband and Braided Scarf

Remember how in the beginning of the summer, i started posting DIYs here? and how i actually did those that i posted? well, here are some in hoping to try out, once i can uncover and discover any possible tees i might have lurking in the depths and darkness and alleyways of my metropolitan closet.

So this first one i found is suuuper easy and i was going to try it out today…but the T-shirt i chose to use has some stains on it! what a bummer! *pouts* so while i wait for the day it comes out of the laundry, i thought id atleast share these awesome DIYs i found ^_^

DIY Paper Bow

So i was on howaboutorange.blogspot.gr and found this super simple idea of making a paper bow, and as bow crazed as i am, i simply HAD to try it out. And its a pretty straight forward tutorial on how to make cute, pretty paper bows like these:

paper-bow-template

You can check out the original tutorial here. And as my camera sucks/is broken, ive stolen the pictures from the original blog post of HowAboutOrange =P

1. You download this here pdf file and print out the shapes onto the colored paper of your choice (it could be recycled, patterned, wrapping paper, whatever!) or print it onto plain paper, cut the pieces out and use it as a stencil. (the pdf has enough shapes to make two bows.) Now, your pieces, for ONE bow, are gonna look like this once you cut them out:

pieces

2. You take the elongated sunglasses like shape and bring the two ends to the middle, where i like to glue them together lightly. Itll look something like this:

shape-bow

3. You take the bottom bow bit, the tails of the bow, and glue that to the wings of the bow. Next, take the last little strip of paper and glue that to the paper bow to finish it all off. i like to make this little bit pop, so i glue it loosely together, so that it looks poofy and not as flat. i just like my bow like that, but its really up to you how you want the finished thing to look. All in all, its pretty easy. You just need the shapes to cut out and then its just easy gluing it all together! Heres the finished look, and im inspired that something SO SIMPLE could look so cute, elegant, and even be so much fun to make! This is an adorable idea, and i love HowAboutOrange for creating it at all ❤

DIY-paper-bow

so yeah, have fun with these little/big/huge/medium/whatever the hell  you want-sized paper bows, experiment with designs, colors, materials, anything at all! Hope you have fun making these!

Happy Crafting, y’all~

DIY Puffy Cinched Bow

Hyello all you crafting addicts! =D

picture027

Heres a tutorial i found on how to make a cute versatile bow than can be pinned onto purses, spruce up old looking bags, glued onto plain ballet flats/sandals/flip flops/shoes/whatever, brooched onto a shirt/skirt, clipped into your hair, put on a hat…honestly, it can go on just about anything, as all beautiful bows can ❤

picture026

So i originally followed this tutorial: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/easy-fabric-bows/instructions/1 but found it a little hard to follow, and basically dumped it and did my own stitching thing, that ill be explaining here. ^id still recommend you to go check that out for the pictures atleast though =P or dont, im copy pasting the pictures here. =D

1. Cut out a huge, long rectangle piece. this is gonna be your bow(duh) and itll be about 1/4 or 1/3 of this actual cut out. keep that in mind when you size it. (since it can be literlly any size you want. make it more squarish if you want the wings of the bow to poof a lot more and look more squished n’ cinched.)

2. Fold the piece as indicated below, along its longest side (if that makes sense…)

1-4_large

3. Stitch the two loose ends closed here, here and here (the red crosses).

1-4_large - Copy

Just make sure youre only stitching these two ends of the piece together, and not accidentally catching the other flat part of the piece. I find it easiest to stitch the outside two red crosses as they help hold everything together, but if your in a hurry or lacking string, the job can get done with only one red crossy stitch done in the centre =) Once finished, youll have a cylinder shape if done correctly.

4.  Now, fold as indicated below, bringing the outside ends together, meeting at the centre line (green).

1-4_large - Copy - Copy its gonna then end up looking something like this:

1-5_large if your bow material is silk or soft or something thats wrinkled, id recommend ironing the bow at this point.

5. The next step is a little confusing as this is where we’ll be cinching up the bow to give it that poofy puffy affect.  Cinch it up where the two flaps youve just folded from the previous step meet. Now, i like to take my needle, and make a running stitch, but not pull the needle through. er, sorta like…. im gathering the material only on the needle. this way, if im not happy with the cinching, or think the bows gone wonky, i can pull the needle out and try it again, as many times as i want (i can get quite picky =) ) and then, finally satisfied, i quickly tug on the needle so the cinching stays the same, but the bow is now resting on the bottom of the string (thats obviously knotted at the end, as im sewing with it =P ). Make sure that youre needle is catching ALL the material of the bow, and not just he back half.

1-5_large

6. Now youre bows got its wings and looks all nice and puffy =) good, were almost done, yaaay! =D i like to finish off by immediately after having pushed the bow to the bottom of the string, wrap the string around the middle to secuire it more, and then knot it off. feel free to wrap around as much of the string you have left, even if its a lot. Well be cover that up anyways. This is what youll end up with:

1-6_large although this is what mine looks like without covering up the stitching, as i think the unfinished look also looks cool:

picture030

7. Now, youll need to cut a smaller rectangular piece thatll go around the middle of the bow and cover up your stitching. (You can bead this middle bit, or glue on  some glitter to give youre bow a cute little glitter accent. sadly, i didnt have time to do that so i dont have pics of any of those ideas…id highly recommend trying them though! =) Now, um, i got lazy with this last step and didnt even bother stitching the last middle bit on. i just tied it, then trimmed the extra tailes sticking out at the ends. not sure you can see it too well in this picture, but thats what ive done. i then passed a safety pin into the knot to turn it into a brooch.

picture028

Hope you enjoyed it! I made a bigger one and but it on a headband =)

What i love about this is that its fun, easy, quick, simple, cute, versatile, and can be used in so many ways! Just have fun with it =D

Good luck~

Exiled From Ireland&The Irish Love Me

Obviously.

Anyways, i have a dream where im in this plain boring area, with hills and a sun above them, and nothing else. all in shades of yellow, green, and orange (yes, even the sun.) and yet somehow i know im in ireland.

Scene shift. at this absolutely gorgeous mountain top, with magnificent mountains as far as the eye can see. its a crisp winter morning, but insanely sunny. my perfect winter weather. we’re in this amazing manor, castle, thing. all grey carved stone, and beautiful. its brilliant. and then, there are all these random people scattered here and there. and theyre about to announce who got shuffled into which team with who. anyways, ayesha and i are super excited, but ayesha’s flipping out with insane hand gestures and everything. (so very un ayesha like). shes going on about how cool itd be if she gets an actual french person on her team and they become great friends. and i want to make friends with whoevers on my team.

anways, they announce the teams, and group us all together. we then are supposed to hang out together as a team to improve our teamwork and get to know each other more. after a debate and all that time, i become really close friends with this irish guy on my team. we become bros. its awesome =) and then after that, when we get our own free time to spend with whomever we choose, i go find ayesha. shes ecstatic cuz she has a french chick on her team. so thats cool, sure why not, were both happy.

later on, i see ayesha hanging out (bothering) the frenchie girl, and its pretty obvious that shes  irritated. yet ayesha being oblivious to this, continues her pursuit of being best friends with the Croissant Lover. she goes on about our (ayesha and mine) lit references, how shes the Lady of Shallot, how she has always considers herself french, and french worthy, blah blah blah. anyways, im then hanging out with Irish-Guy (and i dont remember what he looked like much- possibly blonde with green eyes? im not sure…but i do remember that he was hot. buuut i wasnt into him. not then. yes, there IS a sequel dream! =D ) and we become closer friends.

the next time i see ayesha, she has irked the french chick to a terrible extreme where she snaps at ayesha. ayesha gets stunned and a bit confused and tries to appologize and then go on about how theyre such good freinds and forgive each other. Madam Mustache (..no she didnt have one..but-but still =P) gets more annoyed, and tells ayesha shes not worthy of calling herself french let alone being french, and how shes just an annoying little wanna be. ayesha gets angry now, and they proceed to a full scale riot yelling match fight thing. then this girl sues ayesha, and takes her to the french embassy. there, all the french also hate ayesha, and tell those in charge of our debate tournament training thing (the debating TTT =P ) that they hate her and will not tolerate her being in ireland where shes happy and where currently there are a lot of french people or something. the irsih are totally chill and are just like, ‘yeah, sure, cool, why dont we just exile her, yeah?’ and thus ayesha gets exiled from ireland.

now, we;re at this scene where ayeshas crossing the boarder. once again, in all shades of orange, green and yellow, strangely. so ayeshas leaving and she asks me to cross over with her, you know, lets ditch this popsickle stand kinda thing. (i would never call ireland a popsickle stand but you get the idea right? no offense..) and im fine with leaving (since i can come back. no exile for me =) ) but all these random irish people appear and they say no, i cant go because they like me and are attached to me. aw, im loved by the irish ❤ anyways, as this happens, my irish guy friend was standing by my side the entire time and when the ayesha asks me to leave with her, he hugs me. like, NO. she wont go. it was cute.

all and all, this is a pretty morality type dream of mine.

the irish will love me. the irish are cool and chill. ayesha doesnt belong in ireland. ayesha is to be hated by the french. and, apparently, ayesha doesnt have what it takes to call herself and to BE french. yowch. and obviously, the sun is secretly green, orange and red in ireland. i feel so much more enlightened now. =)
