My Adventure on Foreign Soil!

I’m making it sound more epic than it actually is. Hey, embassies are considered the soil of the country they belong to, so I’m technically correct. Geez, it needs a touch of dramatic flare, is all.

It was QUICK. They newly introduced an actual appointment system, with ticket numbers like at a fast food place, and it’s so much more efficient and less messy than before. Five years ago, it was on a first come first served basis, and it sucked. I’d have to miss school and stay at the embassy for around six hours just for a ten minute interview, and a few signatures.

We were out of there in an HOUR. And it only took us that long too because the cashier wasn’t in at the time, so we had to wait a bit. Plus, other people were still showing up. I love hour our stereotypical Desi un-punctuality is even influencing an embassy of a foreign nation ❤ It brings a tear to my “dual” national eye :’)

While the first dude was checking out our application for my passport renewal, he was fiddling with the date stamp, and after a while finally stamped 28 July 2014 onto the form. It’s June, bro. My dad politely asked why he’d stamped July, and then realizing his error, fixed it. He also forgot which ink to sign at the bottom of the form in, so it was fixed up professionally with half a black signature that had been finished and rewritten in red ink. Poor guy must’ve been reaaally sleepy, really off his game, or just plain ol’ clumsy. Who knows.

The second dude that conducted my interview (they didn’t have me take a proper oath, but I still had to promise that I hadn’t lied on the forms, with my right hand raised. I hope that’s the closest I ever get to a proper oath too 😛 ) was a gora guy, and he was pretty great at what he was doing with the questions, and answering those my dad asked too.

There was also a stop between these two guys, which was stopping and paying the cashier the fees for the new passport.

We were waiting for the cashier to open shop, and this other family, that came AFTER we did, just stood huddled in front of the station, like they belonged there! I was pretty miffed at their hurry, and their rudeness, especially since they were counting out which ticket holder had to go up to which window. It was hence pretty satisfying when they were asked to move, and our ticket number was called. That aunty’s smug, haughty look was wiped clean of her face then as she shuffled back to take a seat and wait her turn like everyone else. Hah. Justice. #TheTripleA

That’s about it for that. I didn’t get much sleep last night though…even though I went to bed at around 1 am, I didn’t fall asleep until four. And so I’m running on two hours of sleep, and basically sugar and sunlight~

It was fun. We went to Second Cup afterwards, grabbed a bit of coffee, and some other tidbits (double chocolate muffin, a slice of apple pie, a chicken wrap). Ammi of course wasn’t very fond of her coffee. She’d ordered a medium/regular size too! I got a Cuzco, which is this nutty(aw yeah) chocolate-ish (barely) Latin American blend of coffee, apparently. Adding foam milk just made it all the more better ❤ (Ammi used up half the brown sugars we’d been served, so I only got to use two packets 😦 )

Aaaand now I’m home, typing this out, while I load up a Rizzoli & Isles episode ^_^

Hee hee, well, I’m off now 😛

I’ll type out more about Ayesha’s birthday later today, I hope~

Howdy to a lil’ Holiday DIY SnowGlobe

‘Tis the season of giving, sharing, and- why not?- MAKING!

Snow-glooobes

Wait- it’s the Winter Solstice and it ain’t snowing? And of course, it’s not the same if there are no snowflakes! But do not fret, we can change that up a bit with this simple yet gorgeous DIY I found day before yesterday, but haven’t had the time nor materials to try yet. But here goes anyways.

View the original blog I found this DIY at too, it’s pretty cool =D Plus, you can order a special kit to get all the materials to make this DIY if you want from their site too! Disclaimer- all these photos are from the original blog, Brit+Co, unless otherwise stated.

So, get down with Frosty, and create your own magical winter wonderland, complete with snow in the form of a girl’s best friend, glitter!

Snow-GLobe

I mean, just loook at that spectacular show of shimmer! #EmphasisThroughAlliteration

So let’s get started, now shall we?

Materials-
I Airtight Jar(s)
II Glitter
III A form of SuperGlue (Elfee, or UHU, or E-6000 glue.)
IV Stuff to stick on your jar- like a Christmas Bauble, or other decoration item, like a small tree, or a small figurine, etc.

Step I- Unscrew your jar lid, and glue whatever you will be putting in the snow globe onto it.

Press down firmly to make sure it’ll dry securely. Now let it dry properly. To be on the safe side, I’d recommend you to leave it to dry overnight, or to be on the super-safe side, dry for 24 hours. If you’re super giddy to finish the project, then I guess you could shorten the wait to 4 hours, but I’m not sure how well that’d turn out.

Step II- Fill your jar with as much water as possible. Now comes the fun part- adding the glitter! As much as you like, with as many colors as you’d like. Although, you do end up with a snow globe that might have glitter clump in it every now and then. I’ve heard of this tip that’s supposed to fix that up, which is to use hot/warm water in the jar, then use glitter glue instead of glitter as it dissolves in the water more uniformly, yet I haven’t tried this out myself, so I can’t verify whether it works or not. I’ll try this out, then get back to y’all if it does or doesn’t.

Step III- Shake and enjoy! Have fun making these, and I hope you liked it =D I mean, this is a cute little DIY you could do with kids as a fun little project to lift the holiday spirit, or for those who are homesick without snow this season could be cheered up a bit (I know it worked on me!), and these little guys would make awesome gifts too!

Just have fun with it, and you can use loads of different stuff instead of tiny Christmas trees. I was thinking of making an Alice in Wonderland themed one myself, honestly. With a lollipop, a peppermint candy cane, and other candies, and a figurine of the Cheshire Cat. I was  thinking of making a Christmasy/Winter Solstice one with Christmas baubles, and plastic snowflake ornaments too. I can’t wait to try this out myself! And soon, I hope!

A Trio of DIYs- Woven Headband, Braided Headband and Braided Scarf

Remember how in the beginning of the summer, i started posting DIYs here? and how i actually did those that i posted? well, here are some in hoping to try out, once i can uncover and discover any possible tees i might have lurking in the depths and darkness and alleyways of my metropolitan closet.

So this first one i found is suuuper easy and i was going to try it out today…but the T-shirt i chose to use has some stains on it! what a bummer! *pouts* so while i wait for the day it comes out of the laundry, i thought id atleast share these awesome DIYs i found ^_^

wait…howd i even find these, you ask? well, like any teenager on the web, i used my assets to my advatage. yesh, i basically did just google the word ‘DIY’. And it worked wonders =D

so i google lead me to pintrest (which i find a terrible place to find good DIYs cuz loads of people hashtag DIY then dont GIVE a DIY…they just post a snapshot of only their end product. it infuriates me to no end -.-) which somehow, miraculously, lead me to these super easy, super fun, and summer-suited, cute, must-try DIYs.

So heres the first one (its about time, frosty…)-
