MovieReview- Rise of the Guardians (2012)

So…I saw this random post on 9gag about how Jack Frost from the Rise of the Guardian’s was a lot like Elsa from Frozen, and I REALLLY wanted to watch the  movie then.

I had wanted to watch this movie since it was first up in the theater, but I remember that my parents were fed up with the cinema being so far away from our house that they weren’t willing for me to go with my friends, and were too tired/lazy to take me themselves. And I kind of forgot about it til I saw that post. And decided to watch it after all.

'

It was an adorable little film all about hope, belief, fun, and fear. It was brilliant. I absolutely ADORED Jack Frost himself, so much that I am willing to assign him a date.

Oh? What do I mean by that? Every Guardian (but the Tooth Fairy, but she’s a hummingbird, so meh.) (..and the sandman…)(OK, so HALF the Guardians) have dates or holidays assigned to them. Easter. Christmas. SOMETHING of the sort.

And even if the other two don’t have set times or seasons, who cares? Sandy’s time was night time when the kids slept and dreamed. Tooth Fairy’s thing was teeth gathering so…whatever to that.

[Although I TRULY appreciated that the teeth had some sort of deeper meaning to them. Memories! That was utterly brilliant. I found it perfectly fitting for the teeth to hold memories from our childhood- and the best and most important ones at that. This was something I really could sink my  teeth into- Oh wow. That really was an unintended pun. If it weren’t, I would have really taken credit for it.]

And so, Jack Frost, the dude with the fun and snow, I’m giving you a date. Your season is obviously winter. So now, your date should be even more obvious. It’s pretty important. It’s the Winter Solstice. The 21st of December. The shortest day, but the longest night to think up pranks, tricks, and create a blizzard. (I’m not a hundred percent sure that’s factually correct about the time though..) Perfect.

I like having my own personal Guardian to my own little holiday =3 It’s name is the only thing I don’t own. And the Guardian too, course. But then again…Frosty is pretty great too..If only I were believed in >.> <.<

Aaah, it’s late, and I have a Rehearsal on the morrow…Er, but I haven’t even typed out the actual review of the movie…um, I’ll try finishing this up quickly.

But there really are a bunch of similarities between Elsa and Jack that it’s startling. Or, predictable.

Just like this movie- Ooooh. But then again, it’s a kids movie, so a happy and perfect ending is suspected and expected from the very beginning. But it’s still worth watching.

I like it’s animation better than Frozen’s though. But I found Frozen’s utterly adorable! And Frost is a much deeper character. I’m not just saying that cuz his hair reminds me of Killua’s or that he’s cute. Or that he’s mischievous. Seriously, Elsa was pretty shallow- there wasn’t any character growth *semicolon* she was just stagnant as a character.

''

And his FEARS! Now that’s what I call realistic. As a literature student, I adored how universal and understandable it was. Or at least, made to be relateble and believable.

I just wished the Man on the Moon wasn’t given such a godly state as heavenly moonlight and would’ve been SHOWN to us. I really would. Plus, they never did resolve how Jack’s memories were literally stolen from him. He didn’t recall his past, so he couldn’t find his “centre”. (Pish posh, what’s this? I spell with a single British spelling, and spell check is on my case…huh. I guess being half American and yet being in British schooling would be confusing sometimes…) Nor did they resolve or show how he handled the silence from the Man on the Moon after so long, and about such important matters. I mean, the poor guy was having an identity crisis for over 300 years. That’s no light matter.

La la la, but really. I loved this movie. Maybe not overall as much as Frozen, but I do like Jack Frost much more than Elsa. But she is easily the better architect, sorry about that, Frost. Just being honest.

But, fear not, you are the 21st of December. So cheers to that!

Oh, and of course, I just HAVE to compare this part of the animation- which had better ice, frost, snow, snowflakes? It’s pretty tough- I’ve decided that both movies win a few awards there. Frozen gets best overall ice and specifically snowflakes. But Rise of the Guardian’s gets frost, easy. But then again- cuz of Frost’s name, there wasn’t all that much focus on ice either, nor individual snowflakes, so it’s not like you’re exposed to terrible ice animation throughout the film.

I say watch it. Definitely. Compare to Frozen, too. I’m sure y’all will. I’d love to hear comparisons and other responses to the movie too.

Did you find the Russian Santa cooler than any other like me? Wish you had seen a six foot one bunny too? Or maybe wished you had Sandy on your charades team? Found Tooth a bit creepy with her feathers and half-hummingbird-ness? Found Frost cute, but strange that he didn’t wear shoes for no apparent reason?

…I actually forgot the hashtag I had for my literature ness D=

Howdy to a lil’ Holiday DIY SnowGlobe

‘Tis the season of giving, sharing, and- why not?- MAKING!

Snow-glooobes

Wait- it’s the Winter Solstice and it ain’t snowing? And of course, it’s not the same if there are no snowflakes! But do not fret, we can change that up a bit with this simple yet gorgeous DIY I found day before yesterday, but haven’t had the time nor materials to try yet. But here goes anyways.

View the original blog I found this DIY at too, it’s pretty cool =D Plus, you can order a special kit to get all the materials to make this DIY if you want from their site too! Disclaimer- all these photos are from the original blog, Brit+Co, unless otherwise stated.

So, get down with Frosty, and create your own magical winter wonderland, complete with snow in the form of a girl’s best friend, glitter!

Snow-GLobe

I mean, just loook at that spectacular show of shimmer! #EmphasisThroughAlliteration

So let’s get started, now shall we?

Materials-
I Airtight Jar(s)
II Glitter
III A form of SuperGlue (Elfee, or UHU, or E-6000 glue.)
IV Stuff to stick on your jar- like a Christmas Bauble, or other decoration item, like a small tree, or a small figurine, etc.

w640

Step I- Unscrew your jar lid, and glue whatever you will be putting in the snow globe onto it.

Press down firmly to make sure it’ll dry securely. Now let it dry properly. To be on the safe side, I’d recommend you to leave it to dry overnight, or to be on the super-safe side, dry for 24 hours. If you’re super giddy to finish the project, then I guess you could shorten the wait to 4 hours, but I’m not sure how well that’d turn out.

Step II- Fill your jar with as much water as possible. Now comes the fun part- adding the glitter! As much as you like, with as many colors as you’d like. Although, you do end up with a snow globe that might have glitter clump in it every now and then. I’ve heard of this tip that’s supposed to fix that up, which is to use hot/warm water in the jar, then use glitter glue instead of glitter as it dissolves in the water more uniformly, yet I haven’t tried this out myself, so I can’t verify whether it works or not. I’ll try this out, then get back to y’all if it does or doesn’t.

w640 (3)

Step III- Shake and enjoy! Have fun making these, and I hope you liked it =D I mean, this is a cute little DIY you could do with kids as a fun little project to lift the holiday spirit, or for those who are homesick without snow this season could be cheered up a bit (I know it worked on me!), and these little guys would make awesome gifts too!

w640 (4)

Just have fun with it, and you can use loads of different stuff instead of tiny Christmas trees. I was thinking of making an Alice in Wonderland themed one myself, honestly. With a lollipop, a peppermint candy cane, and other candies, and a figurine of the Cheshire Cat. I was  thinking of making a Christmasy/Winter Solstice one with Christmas baubles, and plastic snowflake ornaments too. I can’t wait to try this out myself! And soon, I hope!

Ze Winter Solstice ’13

Happy Winter Solstice y’all!

I love the Winter Solstice. I’m not Christian, but it’s basically my non-religious Christmas =D

It’s the day with the snowflakes, the day where I’ve gotta have hot chocolate and/or coffee in my specially awesome intended-to-be-Christmas-themed-coffee-thermos-that-is-now-Winter-Solstice-themed, and I hope today of all days I get to wear my Snowflake Sequined Sweater for the first time ever ^_^

But the classical agenda for the day is to read a good book, enjoy that hot drink, and stare out the window at the snowfall/imagine that snowfall if it ain’t snowing. Well, that’s if I haven’t got a party planned. And cuz of yesterday’s festivities, I don’t. But still. It’s amazing ❤

I’ll post a little Winter Solstice DIY later too =3

A little bit of info on it- It’s the 21st of December and its the shortest day of the Gregorian Calender. I don’t know that much about it, honestly. I’ve read about it cuz of Greek Mythology, but I’d love to know more about it’s origins, and how it might’ve been celebrated back in the day, if at all. I’m gonna do some research on it today now too =)

Zat’s all for now =)

Ze Super Senses Revealed

Remember how i was supposed to talk about some epic powers of mine? After looong periods of consideration, i think even if i share just a few powers with the general public, ill still have enough hidden up my yellow sleeve for fighting crime unexpectedly and effeciently. So, general public, brace yourself with the few powers i shall care to explain to you and tell you a tad bit about.

Here we go.

In this little interview, or revelation, i shall only be talking about Super Senses. Like, how Spiderman’s got Spider Sence. Ah, but a super sense makes not a Superhero. I am the Mint Chutney, but my super sense doesnt involve either mint or chutney in the least. instead, it involves much cooler, desi things thatll through all criminals and masterminds of evil off. What to expect then?

Well, youll know to expect something like #FruitChaatSenses. Yup, Ive got tingling Fruit Chaat senses. They go off whenever anything i can detect does. er, thats a pretty sucky expo…um, lets try that again..If i feel like somethings wrong, and it doesnt necesarrily have to be, or if im acting on a whim or just trusting my gut and instincts (many more people need to accept this pearl of wisdom- just shush, stop tedding out, just dont THINK. just do. not entirely in the way Barney intended, but rather, just ignore your brain freaking out sometimes. go on feeling and instincts instead. i do pretty often. and it works out very well for me. for the most part. haha. hee hee. er, ok, moving on…). So that would be this sense. and other stuff falls under it too, but i shall explain that better when i can. expressionism is what i often lack =/

HAH. ‘My thoughts are stars i cannot fathom into constellations.’ YESH. dat quote came uuuuup. wohoo.

The other power super sense would be… *druuuum rooolll*…. Masala Masti Senses! Or, Masala Senses. Now, these ones really DO tingle. cuz its when i smell something that i say im using these sense. Oooh, logic. Throws almost ALL them villians off. Muahahahaha. wait, no, im supposed to be the GOOD guy. oh well, i AM evil-sih. Go leader of the Triple A, yeaaah!

Now masala senses might also mean stuff like shivering and almost tingling of any sort really, not necessarily sniffing and smelling (and sneezing.) Oh, but sometimes when i use this power i become a polar bear. and heinous crimes like littering become seals. so itd be like

snow…snow..sno- SEAL!! (smosh…polar bear in our mail?!)

but if im using this power, my noses smelling abilities are evidently enhanced. and everyones elses sucks. yay! cuz all they can smell near me shall be masala. hence the sneezing ^_^

buuut theres also that coolio thing about this particular smelling ability. i cans smell food up to double polar bear away =O be impressed. (random fact- Polar bears can smell seals up to 20 miles away.) so thisd be FOURTY miles. daaaym thats a LOT of coverage for an even more A LOT of fooooood ❤

im hungry now =( and im still sick…ish. or ateast, Ze is. The Mint Chutney is invincible.

Fight crime, never Jay-walk, Eat all your vegetables, and NEVAR LITERRR!

A Trip to the Hunza Glen

Soo its the summer vacation, and there are two types of teenagers at this type of year. One, those that go all out and go on actual vacations abroad, and go to water parks, and meet new people, and meet family abroad, and meet random people at like the olymics or vidcon or something. basically, those people that do something interesting, adventurous, fun.

And then theres me. those who sleep late at night, or early in the morning (basically in the ams). those that wake up at 2 pm, if theyre lucky. those that wake up, spend all day on stuff like youtube, fb, video games, reading manga/comics, and talking on the phone, eating, napping, and doing nothing productive or successful. well, unless you count gaining weight as something successful…anyhoo, theres that lazy couch potato teenager that gawks at technology, wasting away infront of what ever console it is he or she possesses. meh.

And although i AM that latter teenager (with a few variations to the daily routine, course), im actually GOING somewhere this summer =P and no, its not an adventurous, exciting, and interesting expedition to a debate tournament abroad…(awww) but, more on that later, but, im going (maybe) for (maybe) five days to this place thats supposed to be super gorgeous and serene and nature-ific. Its a domestic place (so no names, for fear of stalkers =P ) buuut, its supposed to be beautiful and the weather, amazing. Its full of hike trails, and outdoorsy stuff so im really looking forward to it. (eeps, hiking <3) now, the issue about all this ‘maybe’ talk is that since its such a secluded, and up north place, near mountains, its hard to reach by plane (and with a ten month year old hogging the entire back of the car with her car seat, its impossible for the rest of us-q, h and i-to squish in the space for two for a glorious 18-20 hour drive..) so theres only one plane company/agency (i dont know what you call em =S) goes there. and they too have to switch things around a lot cuz the weather is really unpredictable. like, how today its unfortunately apparently SNOWING there. yeah, i know, SNOWING. in JUNE. NOT in austrailia (is that right? austrailias the one in the lower hemisphere..right? =P )

buuut yeah. so cuz of rain and storm and snow, the plane might not go, so yeaaah. so instead ill probably be going day after tomorrow. wo-hoo =/

but yeaaah im still really excited, and almost all packed (78% complete =P ) and just waiting, hoping, and praying its much much muuuuch better than i hope and we leave soon and return safely =D i love to travel, and honestly watching so many travely blogs makes me miss my usual summer plans of heading to so many different places… i love to travel and hope i get to soon and a lot ^_^

lately ive even been dreaming that id go traveling as soon as id be able to by myself and deciding where to and all (probably stuck at the age of 21 atleast =/ ) or something. but yeah, traveling (and hiking) for the win, eh~!

lol, canada =P (i dont know. i just dont. …. ok im lying. the classy peanuts, ouran highschool host club parody? yeah, that =P weird references, oh ma gosh =O =P )

tralalalala~

sooo. on a plane soon, i hope =D
